Como é de costume, foram anunciados os vencedores do Eisner Awards na San Diego Comic Con.
O grande destaque dos prêmios foi para a Image Comics, que já vem arrematando diversos prêmios já faz algum tempo. Também é bem notável a falta de obras das duas grandes editoras de super heróis, Marvel e DC. A Marvel aparece com Surfista Prateado #11 como Melhor Edição Única/One-shot, David Aja como Melhor Capista por Gavião Arqueiro, Karnak e Feiticeira Escarlate, Jason Aaron como Melhor Roteirista por Southern Bastards (Image) , Men of Wrath (Marvel Icon), Doutor Estranho (Marvel), Thor (Marvel), e Star Wars (Marvel). A DC aparece apenas com Melhor Design de Publicação com Sandman Gallery Edition.
